After lunch, we headed back into Kyoto to the Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, which had an amazing plum tree garden.
We got to visit during the plum blossom festival! Though it wasn’t as crowded as I thought it would be.
What we didn’t expect to come across was a sword display. And not just any sword display, but the National Treasure Onikiri 鬼切 “Demon Slaying Sword” that Watanabe no Tsuna used to cut off the arm of the oni, Ibaraki Douji. What luck! Of course we had to go see it! And they kindly let us use phones to take pictures.
Plus I found the honey and yuzu drink I really like and got the LAST one again. :D
One blessing after another today.
Then we arrived at our hotel, directly across from Nijo (Tokugawa’s castle).
Dinner was simple. Fried chicken, rice, pickled veggies, and soup.
I will put my feet up and rest - because we have another go go go day of adventure tomorrow!
